Harvest time is well underway and it’s been our biggest yet. Last Friday and Saturday we spent the two days picking the Pinot Noir Précoce and the Solaris and on Friday (2nd October), we’ll collect the Bacchus and finally next Thursday (8th) the Pinot Gris. We picked 2.4 tons of the Solaris, a significantly larger haul than the previous two years, the grapes have done well despite the late frost.

We had 30 plus volunteers across the two days, so as well as managing the harvest, we were managing under the Covid regulations and ensuring social distancing throughout. Everyone was in great spirits and we’re extremely grateful for the fantastic local support we get. It is becoming increasingly difficult to predict the harvest days so the call out to volunteers has been at much shorter notice than we’d like. Vineyard life certainly isn’t straightforward! However, these first two grape varietals have now headed to Halfpenny Green Estate, our winemaking partners in the Midlands. We’re half way through as we look ahead to Friday’s harvest day.

If you want to get involved and join our community, please take a look at the volunteering page and follow the links.

Once again, a huge thank you to our volunteers for their help and support. Peter produced this short video from the Saturday’s Solaris harvest.
